Varsity Soccer Falls to Hopkinton

Royals Lose: 2 - 4
After a strong game against Newport last Thursday the boys carried that momentum into a match up with a difficult opponent. The team started strong and played a compettive match. Hopkinton got their first of four gioals in the 30th minute. They went on to score two more before the end of the half. However as it has been so often in this season the boys did not give up. The deffensive unit of Jordan Peck, Killian Dowd, Owen Schneider, and Spencer Stebbins showed great leadership and poise as they had to deal with frequent attacks by the Hopkinton offense. Hopkinton was able to find the back of the net for the final time of the day to make it 4-0. Once again the team did not give up and were able to create multiple other chances on net. James Disbrow converted a penalty kick to make it 4-1 and then he  put in a beautiful corner kick which was flicked on by Owen Schneider. Justin Mcdonald found the ball at his feet and put it in the back of the net to make it 4-2 with under a minute left. Overall the team played very well against an extremely skilled opponent. We now prepare for back to back games Friday and Saturday. Friday we will go to Stevens for their Homecoming  game at 3:30. Saturday will be our Homecoming match against Newport at 1:00. We would appreciate the support not only for our game but for the rest of the Mascoma atheltic teams partciapting that day, so come on out!

Royals Win: 8 - 0
The boys had a terrific game today againist a very hard working Newport team who showed a lot of spirit and great sportsmanship. The scoring started with Ben Schwarz who was able to put it past the Newport goalie off an assist from James Disbrow. Disbrow was then able to grab a goal for himself with Jordan Peck getting his first assist of the season. Killian Dowd was also able to find the back of the net and his goal was assisted by Owen Schneider. James Disbrow found himself back on the scoresheet again after a second assist from Jordan Peck.  Gavin Giovagnoli played his first varisty soccer game for the Royals and had a great debut getting a goal assisted by James Disbrow. Owen Schneider grabbed his second goal of the season off a corner kick from Chris Gill. Justin McDonald found himself on the scoresheet after an assist by Ben Schwarz. The final goal was scored by Chris Gill which was his first varsity goal. Hunter Whyte and Liz Pelton split the game and with their joint effort achieved a shut out. We now prepare for a difficult week starting off with a home stint against Hopkinton on Tuesday at 4:00. We hope to see you there!
Varsity Soccer Drops First Game of the Season

Royals Lose: 0 - 3
The terrific start for this years varsity soccer team came to an end today against a very skilled Derryfield team. Derryfield started the game quickly and scored within the first five minutes. They then added another goal in the first half. This seemed to wake the boys up and they began to create some chances for themselves. Unfortunately the boys were not able to convert on any of these chances. However, even when Derryfield added a third goal in the second half the team never gave up. They continued to play physical and although it was 3-0 it was a very competitve match agianst a well organized opponent. I am very proud of how they stuck in the game for the full 80 minutes. We now move on to our next game against Newport which is away at 4:30 this Thursday.
Royals Battle White Mountains to a Double Overtime Tie

Royals Lose: 0 - 0
The boys played a very good White Mountains team today at home. Both teams had great oppertunites throughout the game but neither team could find the back of the net.  The best chance for Mascoma came in the final seconds of the second overtime when James Disbrow had a breakaway and the Whtie Mountain goalie made a tremendous save. The ball then came to Killian Dowd's feet who put up a great effort but unfortunately it did not find the back of the net. The boys played extremely well and left it all out there on the field. They showed great heart and determination especially considering they had a tough battle against Newfound yesterday. We will host Derryfield  Tuesday at 4:00.
Boys Varsity Soccer Wins Home Opener

Royals Win: 1 - 0
The Boys Varsity soccer team made it three in a row this evening with a great  win against Fall Mountain. It was the home opener and the boys had a lot of energy from the start of the game. The games only goal came in the 17th minute when Killian Dowd made a great pass to Garret Davis who put the ball into the box. From there it was a scramble and James Disbrow fought off the Fall Mountain defenders to find the top corner. This is Disbrow's second goal of the season. The boys continued to play great defnesively still only allowing one goal through the first three games. Isaac Rayno also played particuallry well in the middle of the field distributing the ball and winning important 50/50 challenges. We will now prepare for an always physical battle with an away match up with Newfound on Tuesday at 4:00.
Mcdonald gets the game winner in overtime

Royals Win: 1 - 0
The boys won a hard fought match against Laconia High School. Both teams played a very physical match with both sides getting quality chances. Hunter Whyte and the Mascoma defense kept us in the game. Killian Dowd and Owen Schneider did an excellent job in the middle of the defense while Spencer Stebbins and Jordan Peck played well on the outside. The game was all tied up after 80 minutes and then went into overtime. With 3 minutes left in the second overtime Ben Schwarz played a ball into James Disbrow who fired off a great shot. His shot hit the post and Justin Mcdonald was in the perfect position to net his second goal of the season. We will now prepare for our home opener against Fall Mountain Friday at 4!
